I'm a Charlotte, NC, native, and an App State grad.  When I'm not shooting, editing, or brainstorming my next session, you can find me playing with my nanny kids, redecorating my apartment, spending time with family and friends, or doing some kind of craft!  Boba is my *little treat* of choice and I live for a good after party or late night hang.

One of my personal core values is celebration, and that's exactly what I'll capture in our photos.  It's an honor to "freeze time" for moms whose kids are growing up before their eyes, to throw confetti with the high school grad who is excited about the future, and take headshots for the girl in her mid-twenties who (like me) is finally pursuing her dreams.  Around here, we celebrate every stage and life event, big or small!

Jesus is the most important thing to me, always!  God is the Creator of everything worthy of celebrating.  I am creative because He created me in His image (Genesis 1:27.)  I am forever grateful that I get to celebrate with and capture images of His creation.

i like to have fun.

i like to have fun.

hi, i'm sarah

hi, i'm sarah

when I asked Santa to bring me a camera at just two years old, and I was heartbroken when the one under the tree was just a toy.  (He clearly didn't understand the passionate young entrepreneur he was dealing with.)  After several years, countless disposable cameras, one treasured point-and-shoot, and wayyy too many iPod touch photo shoots, I was gifted my first "real" camera on my 13th birthday.  That same day, I started Sarah Garrett Photography.  Looking back, I guess you could say I was a little *too* ambitious and by the time I graduated high school, I was overwhelmed and burnt out.

I continued doing occasional sessions for friends and family, but in the summer of 2024, I felt God nudging me to officially re-launch SGP.  We're back and better than ever! (It's crazy how much more prepared you can be to run a business when you're not also studying for world history tests.)

I want to say the biggest of "thank you"s to those who poured out their time, skills, and encouragement.  And also to those who took a chance and booked a session with a thirteen-year-old.  You know who you are.  I love ya.

I feel like I've finally come home to my dream job.

and i'm still dreaming.

I'm constantly dreaming of the next session, the next trip, the next event, the next lens purchase, the next city to visit... but, ministry is the truest, most tender dream in my heart.  If you are a missionary or serve in a church or ministry and need headshots or photos for fundraising, I would love to be part of that.  If you have a mission trip or event coming up, please reach out about what it would look like to include a photographer... me!
